"Cronia's apartment had a very strong overall look... Beautiful styling was apparent everywhere."

Master Bedroom
This room, along with my En-Suite was nominated as my "Feature Room" in the apartment, ie it was to be completed by lunchtime on the Wednesday of filming week. My Master Bedroom essentially consists of five basic elements – double bed with storage room beneath, substantial built-in wardrobes to the right of this facing the door, LCD TV mounted in the corner to the left of the window, and two oak bedside lockers to compliment the bed. I think the key here is that: a) storage must be very carefully implemented so as not to detract from the impression of space and b) rich and stylish accessories will help create the perfect haven for rest and relaxation.
My colour scheme in the Master Bedroom incorporates luxurious rich aubergines and warm soothing creams. At the planning stage I requested an elegant yet compact built-in 4-door wardrobe in an ivory finish so as to enhance the feeling of space and timelessness in this room. The handles I selected are contemporary in their elongated chrome form, but the addition of a dark brown, almost burgundy detail beautifully compliments the aubergine tones of my scheme, whilst softening the overall appearance of the storage units in here.
The carpet I have chosen is in a subtle beige shade so as to accentuate the light hall floor tiles and to open out the room. To dress the bed I have selected a somewhat traditional toile quilt along with textured cushions in varying fabrics. My light choices, which I have put on dimmer switches for an extra subtle ambience, are modern with a traditional twist; my pendant light is a dramatic streamlined chandelier style fixture with a very contemporary Perspex barrel surrounding it. This is complimented by matching bedside lamps, the light from which creates an soothing pattern on the wall. In contrast to my "traditional" quilt, I have wall-mounted a stylish contemporary full-length illuminated mirror. This creates an interesting yet functional feature in the "dressing area" inside the main door opposite the wardrobe.
As a wall-mounted TV has been housed in the upper corner to the left of the large window, I have elected to keep artwork to a minimum and as understated as possible so as not to clutter the wall space available. I have aimed to keep it simple also in terms of my fabric choice so that the window panels do not dominate the room. Again, this clever contemporary mechanism allows for additional floor and wall space at the far end of the room, and doesn't hinder TV viewing as a result. In addition, I have strategically positioned potted plants on the balcony so as to screen off the room from the busy street below when these window screens are fully open.
The result is a beautiful, elegant sleeping and relaxation space, far removed from the hectic city centre vibe outside. Coordinated scented candles and a pretty floral design on the bedside locker adds the perfect calming and elegant tone to this most significant room in the apartment.
