"Cronia's apartment had a very strong overall look... Beautiful styling was apparent everywhere."
Neville Knott, presenter of RTE 1's Showhouse
Kitchen
The Developer and I both favoured light contemporary kitchen units in a high-gloss cream veneer, as standard in this apartment block. All handles and accessories are stainless steel in keeping with the sleek 3-way light fixture, which I chose for overhead. This is also echoed in the large stainless steel splash-back and cooker hood. I requested that the up-stand be a continuation of the dark brown granite worktop, so as to enhance the low maintenance feel of this workspace and to add a sense of continuity in here. The unit door handles are elegant and elongated so as to draw the eye upwards also. My choice of wall colour is similar to the hue of the units and my ivory ceramic floor tiles are large and light reflective (as seen in the hallway) so as to further create an illusion of space.
In contrast, I have introduced eye-catching contemporary chrome and red kitchen gadgets and utensils, including an oversized wall clock, so as to further enhance an enviable "urban-chique" lifestyle impression. The result is a very stylish, yet low-maintenance kitchen, ideal for young professionals living hectic lives.
